Anna and Roger Wilde, the Nelson-based authors of REAL FRESH FOOD, have a
mindful and holistic approach to food.
Roger Wilde spent many years working as a restaurant chef in Australia, the
UK and New Zealand. He now works as a private chef and gardener. He is also
a deeply committed meditation practitioner and teacher.
Anna Wilde has worked as a shiatsu practitioner and teacher, winemaker's
assistant, whole foods cook and restaurant manager. Now a busy and happy
mother to toddler Gabriel, she continues to work part-time as an online
practitioner of Emotional Freedom Techniques.
Together, Anna and Roger set up Wild Health, an organisation that endeavours
to educate people about maintaining a healthy diet. Their popular website
www.wildhealthfood.com and e-newsletter provide recipe ideas and nutritional
information to thousands of people all over the world. They have also
previously operated a popular healthy food cooking school from their home in
Nelson, New Zealand.
ABOUT ANNA AND ROGER
Both of us a have spent considerable time practising meditation, including
silent retreats for weeks at a time. Roger's experience as a lay
practitioner and then monk in a Japanese Zen Temple over 4 years, and Anna's
retreat time, has instilled in both of us an awareness of the importance of
spiritual development and personal growth. In has taught us that while food
is an important basis for good health, the state of the mind and how we
respond to life circumstances plays a crucial role in being happy and fit on
all levels.
Anna has dealt with eating addiction issues (compulsive over-eating) for
many years and only recently has discovered healing and freedom using the
support and inspiration of a 12 step programme, in combination with EFT and
meditation. While committed to sustaining a healthy diet 95% of the time,
she knows intimately that 'it is not so much what you're eating, it's what's
eating you'.
We have tried many different diets: vegan, vegetarian, macrobiotic, and
even ate a raw food diet for one year. These days a moderate middle path
including healthy sources of animal protein suits us best.
We set our recipes within the context of cultivating a wholesome life (as
described in more detail the book). We conscientiously walk the talk, with
humour and energy.
